This song has been a part of my life since high school. Maybe earlier, but high school is where it took deep root. Every Christmas season in band, we’d pay Christmas arrangements, and annually, Sleigh Ride was a standard. I remember the awe I had hearing the horse whinny on the trumpet at the end of the piece my freshman year, and WANTED TO DO THAT! Well, my senior year, I was first chair trumpet, guess who got to do it? Yes, me. It was amazing. It’s such a fun piece to play and listen to. I probably annoy my daughters whenever I play this song because I get all excited and start talking about my favorite parts in the pieces. But they’re used to it by now!
