Meet Mr. Craig
Hi, I’m Craig—also known as “Mr. Craig” to my students and families!
I’ve been a passionate music educator since 2001, helping students of all ages discover the joy and magic of music. From toddlers to adults in their 80s, my goal has always been the same: to build confidence, spark creativity, and help every student experience success in a fun and encouraging environment.
Whether we’re learning piano, voice, guitar or trumpet, I believe music lessons should be something students look forward to every week.
🎶 My Musical Background
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
- 🎹 Started piano at age 5
- 🎺 Began trumpet in 5th grade
- 🎼 Learned organ in middle school
- 🎤 Sang across many styles including Broadway, worship, classical, jazz, and more
I play:

My musical influences range from church hymns and classical composers to country, 80s pop, and even my first concert—Johnny Cash at a county fair!
That wide range of styles shapes how I teach: with flexibility, creativity, and a focus on helping students find music they love.
Why Did I Start Teaching?
I went to college to be a high school choir director. Very quickly, I found out that I was much better in a smaller, specifically one on one setting. And out of necessity for money (church music jobs don’t pay very well), I started teaching piano lessons.
I found that I loved teaching, and throughout the years of doing it on the side, I felt the pull from 80/20 church music to teaching to 90/10 teaching to church music, which is where I’m at now! And I love what I do!

- 🌱 Working in the garden
I’ve been married for 20 years and am a proud dad to two musical daughters:
- 🎭 Ella (17), who loves musical theater and singing
- 🥁 Emily (14), a singer and percussionist
Music is a big part of our family life, and I love sharing that same joy with my students.
