Last night, I took my oldest daughter to a local college to see their opera workshop’s performance of a Rodgers and Hammerstein review. It was fantastic, not only the quality of the music shared, but also that it was fantastic to hear and see live music be performed. Yes, the singers were wearing masks, as were the audience, but it seems like we’re slowly starting to get back to a bit more of a normal performance routine.
Here in Houston, performance venues are starting to resume performing, which is extremely exciting! It’s looking like Broadway shows will resume performances in September, so there will start to be more opportunities for live music!
Exposure to all kinds and styles of music is so beneficial. But along with that, having the opportunity to experience live performances, whether that is high school, college or professional is a big experience, and can serve as a catalyst and bring excitement and enthusiasm. That’s why I took my oldest daughter. She turned 12 on Wednesday and dreams of being on Broadway. She woke up this morning singing the songs she heard last night. That makes it all worthwhile.
