Happy New Year! You may have noticed that on the website header, it now reads “Practice Brings Progress”. That’s the studio focus for 2024. You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Practice Makes Perfect”. Here’s the reality…..it won’t be perfect. And that’s OK. All students of Harmanny Music Education are unique. Whether they’re voice students, piano students, trumpet students or guitar students. And of course, they may be adult students, or in school, so those bring about unique needs.
So practicing. Why practice? Well, it’s not just about music. When we practice, whether it’s sports, school, art, or anything, we grow in our abilities and become more proficient….and confident in our abilities! As a musician, confidence is huge! For this month on Harmanny Music Education’s social media and YouTube, you’re going to notice a specific focus on practicing. But not just good quotes and platitudes about practice. See, this month, I’m putting it into…..practice myself. I need the focus, and one of the challenges I’m laying out to my students is that if any student has more practice than me, they’ll get an extra special reward. Of course, that puts the onus on me to practice. And I will!
